IWC Top Gun..I feel the need, the need for Speed!

International Watch Co. Schaffhausen, better known as IWC, started this 2012 with the announcement of it's new Pilot watch line. All of the models have had a re-styling, giving them a stronger military appearance, but the "jewels in the crown" are the new Chronograph Top Gun Miramar (ref IW38002) and the Big Pilot Top Gun Miramar (ref. IW501902).

The usage of the traditional camuflage colours (beige and green) and the grey ceramic case, enhances the military style design of the pieces and also gives them a "vintage" feel because these were the colours used for this pilot type watches during the 1930´s and 1940´s.

Both watches will have the traditional Top Gun encarving in the backside of the soft-iron inner case to protect from magnetic fields, and will have a convex Sapphire glass with antireflective coating on both sides to help you admire the beautiful and clean dials of both the 7 days and the Chrono version.

Only con I see on this two beautiful timekeepers is the size. The Big Pilot has 48mm diameter and the Chrono has 46mm. A bit to big, from my point of view, to have a vast audience, but time will tell. So far, in the different forums I visit and participate, the vast mayority liked them and thought that IWC's had moved in the right direction with the design and styling.

I'm sure that Maverick wouldn't have been late to his date with Charlie if he had wore one of these, or maybe he would have been late anyway. What do you think, would you have been late for the date? Do you like them?
